Focusing on Wealth Management for the Construction Industry and Enhancing Members' Professional Value

On June 26, 2026, the professional seminar series “What You Think VS Reality: Financial Blind Spots of Construction Business Owners” — hosted by the Canadian Chinese Construction Association (CCCA) and organized by Irisky Wealth — was successfully held at Golf It Up. Construction business owners, association directors and members gathered together to explore hot topics such as tax planning, wealth management and legal structuring in the course of business growth, all in a relaxed and open atmosphere.

As an important part of the CCCA professional seminar series, this event focused on the issues that construction business owners commonly face throughout business operation, wealth accumulation, business exit and wealth succession. Professionals from the legal, tax and wealth-planning fields were invited to share jointly, offering member enterprises cross-disciplinary, systematic solutions.

Three Key Stages, Systematically Unpacking Business Wealth Challenges

The discussion centered on three key stages of business development:

Operation stage — practical issues such as tax cost control, application of the HST Rebate policy and cash-flow management in construction business operations were highlighted;

Exit stage — drawing on policies such as the LCGE (Lifetime Capital Gains Exemption), equity planning, exit arrangements and business value management were professionally analyzed;

Succession Stage — planning ideas for sustainable business wealth were shared from the perspectives of wealth succession, liquidity arrangements and long-term planning for business owners' families.

Three Experts, Cross-Disciplinary Joint Sharing

The event featured presentations from three professional speakers:

  • Bobby Wang — Senior Commercial Legal Counsel at KPMG, shared professional experience on corporate equity structures, family trusts, commercial agreements and legal risk management;
  • Yang Ying, CPA — Tax planning specialist, provided in-depth analysis of corporate tax optimization, corporate restructuring and tax planning;
  • Iris Zhu (CLU, CHS, TOT) — Wealth planner, shared on business owners' retirement planning, wealth succession, corporate insurance strategies and family wealth structures.

The three speakers delivered systematic presentations across the dimensions of legal, tax and wealth planning, helping member enterprises more clearly understand how these disciplines work together and offering a more comprehensive planning framework for future development.

Engaging Prize Q&A and Active Exchange

The seminar also featured a prize Q&A session, in which the speakers posed interactive questions to attendees based on their presentations; members eagerly competed to answer, and the lively exchange deepened everyone's understanding of tax, financial and legal knowledge. Throughout the seminar, members listened attentively, taking notes and nodding along. After the presentations, the Q&A and discussion session was especially active: members raised real challenges from their own businesses — from the details of tax structuring to the practical implementation of family succession — engaging in in-depth, face-to-face discussion with the speakers. Wave after wave of questions followed, and the experts patiently addressed each one. Many members noted that such cross-disciplinary, face-to-face exchange is a rare opportunity that made complex financial, tax and legal matters much clearer and easier to understand.

The lottery during the dinner brought the atmosphere to its peak. We extend special thanks to WeBeauty for sponsoring a SkinCeuticals skincare gift set, and to Golf It Up for sponsoring a golf experience lesson; lucky members went home with rewards amid rounds of applause and cheers. This series of relaxed and enjoyable activities further fostered interaction and resource connection among members.

Continuously Empowering Members, Creating the Future Together

In recent years, CCCA has consistently taken member needs as its guide and continuously enriched the association's services. As one of the association's key value-added offerings, the professional seminar series aims to build an exchange platform between construction business owners and professional institutions, helping members stay informed of policy changes, learn professional knowledge, strengthen business management capabilities, and achieve resource sharing and win-win cooperation.

Looking ahead, CCCA will continue to roll out themed events on topics of interest to construction business owners — including tax planning, legal risk management, corporate financing, real estate development, wealth management and artificial intelligence — providing members with more high-quality opportunities to learn and exchange, continuously raising the association's professional service standards and supporting the long-term, stable development of member enterprises.

CCCA will continue to uphold its mission of “connecting resources, empowering enterprises, and serving members,” building an influential professional exchange platform and growing together with members to create the future.
